Academic Field Trip from MARA Higher Vocational College Lenggong

13 February 2016  - A group of students from MARA Higher Vocational College Lenggong had visited CHEST, USM. The 16 students, currently studying Diploma in Herbal Science (Healthcare) were accompanied by their 2 lecturers. Through this field trip, CHEST had successfully instilled beneficial experiences and knowledges about standardization of herbal materials and products in students.

High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)Training

27 October 2016 – Centre for Herbal Standardization (CHEST) has successfully conducted a training session on “Fundamentals of HPLC” and “HPLC Method Development and Validation”. The participants were theoretically lectured by Dr. Shanmugapriya Perumal and Dr. Norliyana Mohd.Salleh. At the end of the training, participants gained a practical understanding on the basics of HPLC theory and approaches to developing robust HPLC method and validation strategy.

High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC)Training
4 October 2016 - Centre for Herbal Standardization (CHEST) had conducted a training session on High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC). The training was attended by participants from USM. This training enlightened participants about the possibilities of HPTLC and fundamental theoretical contexts. The training instructor, Mr. Khairul Nizam Mazlan also taught the participants approaches to utilize methods for the qualitative and quantitative analysis under standardized conditions with practical exercises. This training had productively provided the valuable technical knowledges and insights of HPTLC.

Workshop on ‘Kenali Tumbuhan dan Produk Minyak Pati 2016’
30 September 2016 – Malaysian Herbal Monograph Malaysia committee successfully organized a seminar on Kenali Tumbuhan dan Produk Minyak Pati 2016 at Mardi, Kuala Linggi, Melaka. CHEST team had been given the opportunity to participate in the seminar. The attendees acquired precious knowledge on the current technology of essential oil processing. Mardi, Kuala Linggi is a top-notch facility in Malaysia, capable of producing high quality essential oil products that were able to penetrate the world market.
